But this time it's just under a year since the last one! WOO YEAH TIMELINESS!
Elspeth news: I think I've made some headway on drawing buildings for backgrounds, but still working on interiors and using perspective to my advantage instead of seeing it as some arcane graphing process that completely sucks all the soul out of drawing. Trying out different ways of satisfactorily rendering building facades and stone textures in a way that communicates just enough information to read as a solid environment without turning into a mess of details that'll be ignored in favor of the figures anyway. Also, it is damn near impossible to find advice on creating architectural backgrounds with the same level of attention to construction principles as there is for anatomy tutorials. "lol go look at buildings" is not what I'm asking for, dammit! How are they made? What substructures should I take into account when drawing a multi-story facade? What are the differences in construction between commercial buildings and residences? What should I keep in mind when laying out a street scene with multiple buildings?
God help me when I move on to aquatic vehicles...
Art in general news: Same ol' same ol', still doing the perpetual student thing. There's always something that needs improving or updating. Not that I'm complainingI've always found the research the most rewarding part of drawing.
General news: Mass Effect is pretty spiffy. It's doing nothing to purge me of my unhealthy male xeno fetish, though.
